MANIPURA (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Will of Sophia |
For this hexagon I chose the colours traditionally associated with the Solar Chakra: golds and yellows. It was fun to search for them in fabric shops. Again, the geometric vision I had in mind for the piece had to be altered slightly but I was pleased with the result and as always enjoyed the meditative process of cutting, making and stitching. In terms of my meditations with Sophia and the energy of this Chakra and the Right to Act I found this month hard. I connected with a lot of fear around my right to act according to my desires. There is a familiar 'squashing' which happens as I stifle my desire to act because other people’s needs 'should' come before mine. It’s a very old pattern, a familiar one. There is a dampening down of my energy; energy which should be propelling me forward and out. I sink and withdraw instead. |
I took this observation into my morning practice of Tai Chi and Qi Gong where I ask for Sophia’s presence and action. During Lent, I also set myself a sitting evening practice. I asked again for Sophia to accompany me during these sits. It was good to allow the energy to be as it is; to give it space, to allow it and thus bring a sense of subtle movement, however hesitant. Befriending this stuck place in me is a good first step.
Contrary to the splendour of the colours of this chakra, my mood is low. I sense an attachment to the feelings of depression and flatness - difficulty in taking a breath that feels full and easy. Anger lodged deep inside the tense muscles of my diaphragm, which prevented this breath. So I let go.
The gift this month is to let go, go deeper into it, focus on the out breath.
I do.
