SVADHISTHANA (Sacral Chakra or Hara)
Embodying Sophia |
I am following my schema of the first chakra and taking the colours blue (female) yellow (male) and the product of their union, green. This time the interaction produced a spiral, a shape, a body that repeats through time and represents time as circular, seasonal, lifelong, able to expand and contract in any moment and with no beginning and no end; a very versatile symbol and also one that cannot be easily contained or explained in words. So Wisdom, or any other attribute or archetype of the Divine , can be embodied in any moment but not confined. I am beginning to reach beyond my comprehension of time and space and stretch out to cosmic interactions and resonances, both at an atomic micro scale and a vast cosmic scale. This is hard to describe in words and more than a bit scary. |
The threads, 3D structure progressed too. I looked at basket weaving and wove copper wiring to form a helmet or head-dress or crown with the shape of wings beginning to form below at heart level and the long ends of the threads moving out into dancing curves.
This reminded me of two sculptures I saw four years ago whilst visiting Konya in Turkey, of winged beings carved on the original 13th century city gates (now in the Ince Minare Medresse museum there). They have stayed vividly in my memory with wings, arms and hairbraids swinging dynamically. Below the centre of this personage I placed a small copper bowl I made some years ago from a piece of sheet copper cut and hammered to form two figures embraced and intertwined. For a finishing touch I put two honesty seedpods in the bowl to represent nature and hope! With both the hexagram and the sculpture I knew when I had done enough for now and to leave the images free to show and transform. Probably better than my words can do. |
